Vince Gilligan Discloses He Has an Idea of How The Apple TV+ Show Will Conclude... For Now.
The acclaimed writer-producer never anticipated that the Apple TV+ show would emerge as a breakout success. “The viewers have been incredible,” he states. “It was unexpected the show being as widely discussed as it is, and it makes me deliriously happy.”
Now that Season 1 of the acclaimed sci-fi show wrapping up—and Season 2 already in development—Gilligan and his team reflected on the audience reaction and whether it will impact the storyline of Pluribus.
About the Tremendous Viewer Reception
Anyone might to get sidetracked by the widespread acclaim and audience predictions regarding Pluribus. He is making a conscious effort to avoid both.
“The experience is akin to an endless supply of hot fudge sundaes and being in a state of bliss,” he describes. “It's amazing, but I hear about it from others, and that's by design. I have never looked myself up on the internet, nor do I ever plan to. Not because I don't care. It's a deep trap I know I would disappear down and then I'd be never leaving the house from Home Depot and I'd rarely emerge from my living room.”
In spite of Gilligan’s best intentions, there’s no escaping the extremely enthusiastic response to the series. The most practical strategy is to take it in stride and try not to let it dictate the story of the show.
“We don't try to adjust our writing,” says Alison Tatlock. “Our storytelling is not changed by what people are saying.”
“It's wiser to keep our focus on the work,” Gilligan concludes.
The Big Question: Will the showrunner Have a Plan for the Ending of Pluribus?
Considering the writers are not listening by public opinion, can we assume they have already decided how Pluribus will reach its endpoint? In short yes… with some caveats.
“We have some interesting ideas about the ultimate destination,” he states. “but we are always ready to abandon a good idea for a superior concept. This approach has served us in well on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We throw stuff out when we get a better idea and I suspect we'll be doing that.”
Then again, if plans fall through, Gordon Smith has a rather amusing idea to use as a backup.
“I constantly suggest that it's all in a snow globe, and that we'll pull back at the end and we're in there,” Smith jokes, “but no one is buying it.”
Then again, one could always use the iconic TV endings?
“My dream is Carol to awaken beside Bob Newhart,” he jokes.
