Trump Invites Relatives of Attacked Guard Members to the White House
Former President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the executive mansion.
He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Background on the Heartbreaking Event
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in serious condition.
Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.
White House Call
The commander-in-chief said he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president told journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Reaction
Attendees gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid public safety in Washington DC.
Paying Tribute to Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that instructors hoped for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” the principal, the head of her previous school, told the media. “She was caring, caring and always ready to help others.”
Service plans for Sarah are still being arranged.
Judicial Steps and Policy Revisions
Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The event caused the government to suspend refugee claims and cease granting entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the Associated Press.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on a news show that she planned to meet with his relatives.
Memory of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had courage,” the governor addressed the crowd at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
