The German coach, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club remains a possibility. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing nine-season tenure which brought continental glory and ending the club's long wait since 1990, currently occupies positions as head of global soccer for Red Bull and as an advisor for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won England's top flight under Arne Slot, but many fans who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the possibility that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he told Steven Bartlett: “I said I refuse to lead another team within the country. Therefore if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests I might decide in a few years, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on which situations would need to occur to tempt his return to the dugout, he confessed he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for interviews repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews a week.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the team having a nice chat, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games thus frequently great spirits in the building. I still have Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, crediting him due to the changes which secured the championship last term. Liverpool have lost four in a row in every contest following significant transfers, but he rubbished the suggestion that it might signal a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. An outstanding player. The French striker, incredible player. They have a strong balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”

He shared movingly about the death of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in while in charge, and the effect on Liverpool. The Portugal international died tragically in a vehicle collision together with his sibling recently.

“Who can fill the void of a person like him? This isn't just regarding his footballing ability, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the team environment absent his presence. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. It was an incredible shock for all the boys too. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it to justify results yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Dealing with that on a personal level is difficult. Unbearable.”
