The Details Known Regarding the Fatalities of the Bondi Terrorist Incident
No fewer than 16 people perished and over 40 were hurt when assailants fired on a Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach, an attack Australian authorities are describing as a terrorist attack.
According to the most recent information, authorities have announced the number of fatalities stands at 16, which includes one of the alleged attackers. Furthermore, 42 people with injuries were admitted to medical facilities.
The victims have not yet been formally identified, but authorities state their ages are from 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
Originally from London clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first victim to be named.
Described as a father of five children, he served as the assistant rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Relatives and friends described him as “vivacious, energetic, full of life and a very warm outgoing person who loved to help people”.
“How can a happy rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?” a relative asked.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the birth of their newest son in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, as stated by his wife.
She described the events before the shooting, saying they were standing when the shooting erupted. “He pushed his body up because he wished to be near me,” she recalled.
The couple were both Holocaust survivors, having endured unspeakable terror in their youth. They had subsequently immigrated to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
French authorities have announced that French national Dan Elkayam is among the dead.
Officially, the Foreign Minister expressed that France stood with his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This cowardly attack is a new, tragic manifestation of a disgusting rise of antisemitic hatred that we must combat,” the statement read.
One Child
A child who was taken to the a children's hospital has been confirmed among the fatalities, according to police reports.
One Israeli Citizen
An Israeli citizen was a fatality in the incident, as per reports referencing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people transported to hospital, a significant number remain under care, with a number in serious condition. The injured comprise two police officers who responded to the attack.
A casualty is a bystander who attempted to intervene to confront one of the attackers. Hailed as a local hero, he received bullet wounds but is in stable condition in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a public affairs professional. It has been reported he was wounded and underwent treatment in hospital.
Communicating, he described the scene as an “horrific scene,” but also praised the response of those who came to assist. He stated he felt it was a “miracle” he was alive.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was another casualty in the shooting. He told reporters he heard “dozens and dozens” of shots.
“Initially, I believed it was rubber bullets, but it penetrated my own skin and into my leg,” he stated. “I was hit. I received first aid. I’m ok.”
