Teacher Killed and 25 Girls Abducted in Armed Clash at School in Nigeria
Armed assailants have fatally shot an educator and seized a minimum of 25 learners in an attack on a educational institution for young women in the northwestern part of Nigeria, police reports indicate.
The armed faction stormed the public educational institution for female students in Kebbi State's Maga area at approximately 04:00 local time on the beginning of the work week, authorities reported.
The armed individuals "exchanged fire with security forces on duty in a gun duel" before climbing over the boundary wall and taking the pupils captive from their living quarters, an official report indicated.
An educational worker was lost their life while safeguarding the students. Another staff member suffered bullet injuries and is now being treated medically.
Observers recounted a sizeable number of assailants, referred to locally as criminal elements, who arrived firing sporadically to create fear.
