Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest action-packed instalment that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for celebrating action and mayhem with similar enthusiasm, all while weaving captivating, ideologically themed stories. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two producers whose creations have embodied all of those elements.

What to Expect

Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game series, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' structure by introducing a different location and ensemble in each season.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we do not know what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the producer.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family constantly supports me with their constant belief and backing.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone series. Every title is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a story,” explained Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the core of humanity through this multifaceted and chaotic lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and introduce our mutual unconventional, visionary style to the audience.”

A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
