Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents outline the 45 charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
