Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could enable the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Schemers parties.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
