Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say early analysis show the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.
City officials announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for information.
A senior political figure commented the attack left him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
