It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defense and Josh Allen attempting to do too much to dig his team from the situation - not the composed, disciplined, balanced Buffalo team we've seen this season

Miami have demonstrated a varied performances this season so the jury's out on whether this is the start of something, but for Buffalo they'll need an instant response in a difficult matchup against Tampa Bay next week as the New England are quietly moving into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the AFC East

Spotlight - Patriots See Path to Unexpected First Place

Regarding the New England, they're one of three eight and two squads in the league, all AFC sides, but could they be the top team?

One could find flaws in the Patriots, Denver and the Colts really for feasting on the weaker opponents, with only five of their total twenty-four victories achieved against opponents with a winning record - and one example was the Colts defeating the Denver

The Broncos defeated the reigning champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are kings of the final quarter while Indy can ride Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots adding Sunday's win in Tampa Bay to their primtime win in Buffalo seems like a statement

The defensive unit is solid and rookie rusher TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exciting scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth runner to break 22mph this season on his first score

While you can argue who 'the top team' is statistically, the Pats should be favourites to finish with the best record due to their schedule - which features just a single matchup against a winning team, although a significant contest against Buffalo

Visiting the Ravens is also tough, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Chiefs to face two times, the Chargers (who could also compete for top seed but face the identical challenge) and also the Green Bay on the schedule

The Colts also face the Chiefs, and have the Seattle, San Francisco and two matchups with the five and four Jacksonville to face. There is a long way to go but the opportunity is open for a shock top seed in the AFC

Both squads with solid claims to be superior to all of the three eight and two teams are National Football Conference West rivals the Seahawks and Rams, who both scored forty points to go to 7-2 before the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the two in Los Angeles

They've both secured four victories in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Sam Darnold performing at an high standard (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on game day) with top receivers, and defenses allowing fewer than twenty points a game

Each could easily be undefeated as well - especially the Los Angeles as their pair of losses came in extra time against the 49ers and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a potentially winning field goal with the last kick deflected and returned by the Philadelphia for a score

Seattle were also defeated to the 49ers, with a late touchdown in week one, before falling to the last kick of the game against the Buccaneers - so they're truly among the best sides in the NFL

The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the year to date
