It's a challenge for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have come from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Many contend the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in training, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that Healy was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament need to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this triumph coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

But while she later admitted those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is anticipated as her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
